Maurizio Lembo is an Italian perfumer, founder and creative director of the niche brands Officina delle Essenze and Bottega Profumiera. He was born and raised in Rome into a family with ties to the perfume industry. His grandfather owned a shop selling cosmetics, perfumes, and colognes from Italian brands since the mid-1930s. His son, Maurizio's father, also contributed to the family business and, in the mid-1950s, focused exclusively on perfume sales. Maurizio spent his childhood in his family's shop, which influenced his interest in the world of fragrance. In 1992, he completed a short internship at Guerlain; this helped solidify his desire to pursue a career in the perfume industry, and he began to independently study the basics of fragrance composition. In 1995, Lembo released his first interior fragrances, and in 2001, he founded the Officina delle Essenze brand. In 2005, he debuted his personal fragrance line, which included Brezza Marina, Pepe Nero, Talcum, Legno di Rosa, and Puro Lino, some of which were later discontinued. That same year, the brand's first boutique opened its doors in Rome. Today, the brand's collection includes nearly two dozen fragrances. Among the most popular are Caldo Fruttato, Osmarine, Caldo Orientale, and Caldo Gourmand. In 2013, Lembo announced the launch of a new brand, Bottega Profumiera. That same year, the debut line was released, created by Givaudan's senior perfumer, Antoine Maisondieu.
